Situated in the scenic St. Croix River Valley just east of the Twin Cities, Afton Alps has been a beloved Minnesota skiing institution since it opened its doors in December 1963. Now part of the Vail Resorts Epic Pass family following a 2012 acquisition, the resort has benefited from a massive $10 million renovation that completely overhauled its snowmaking capabilities and base area facilities, ensuring reliable conditions despite its modest Midwest elevation.
Afton Alps punches above its weight with a 350-foot vertical drop spread across nearly 300 skiable acres. The resort features 50 trails serviced by a formidable fleet of 18 chairlifts and 4 surface lifts, helping to disperse weekend crowds efficiently. Advanced riders flock to the four terrain parks, which are constantly refreshed by the park crew, while beginners love the gentle slopes of the Meadowland learning area. Night skiing is also a major draw, with lights illuminating the majority of the runs.
Our live webcams give you a front-row seat to the current conditions at Afton Alps. Whether you’re checking the snow accumulation on the Snow Stake cam, viewing the base area activity from the Chalet cam, or inspecting the runs on the Terrain cam, these real-time streams are the perfect tool to help you decide when to hit the slopes.
