About Alpine Valley

Located in the heart of Ohio’s “Snow Belt” near Cleveland, Alpine Valley has been a staple for local winter sports enthusiasts since its opening in 1961. This family-friendly resort takes full advantage of lake-effect snow from Lake Erie, supplementing it with a robust snowmaking system that ensures consistent coverage throughout the season. Acquired by Vail Resorts, it remains a charming and accessible destination for both beginners and seasoned locals.

Terrain and Trails

Though compact, Alpine Valley maximizes its 72 skiable acres to provide a surprisingly diverse experience. The resort features a 230-foot vertical drop with 11 distinct trails serviced by 5 lifts, including two quad chairs that keep the lift lines moving. The mountain is split between wide, forgiving slopes for learners and more challenging pitches for intermediate and advanced riders. The dedicated Xtreme Park is a major draw, loaded with jibs, boxes, and jumps that cater to the freestyle crowd.
