About Beech Mountain Resort

Rising above the town of Beech Mountain, North Carolina, Beech Mountain Resort holds the prestigious title of being the highest ski area in Eastern North America, with a peak elevation of 5,506 feet. Opening its doors in 1967, the resort uniquely features a charming Alpine Village at its base. Because of its lofty elevation, Beech receives significantly more natural snowfall than its regional neighbors, making it a reliable destination for winter sports in the South.

Terrain and Trails

Beech Mountain offers 95 skiable acres and an 830-foot vertical drop, providing a fantastic mix of runs for all abilities. The 17 trails are serviced by 8 lifts, including a modern high-speed quad that dramatically cuts down ride times. Beginners can find comfortable learning areas, while advanced skiers can challenge themselves on “White Lightning,” a steep black diamond run. After a few laps, guests can even stop at the 5,506’ Skybar at the summit for a drink with a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
