About Boreal

Situated atop Donner Summit in California, Boreal Mountain Resort is a legendary hub for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Established in 1964, Boreal is famous for consistently being one of the first resorts in Northern California to open each season. While it is more compact than its Lake Tahoe neighbors with 380 acres of skiable terrain, it packs a punch with a 500-foot vertical drop and 6 lifts. Boreal is heavily focused on action sports, seamlessly integrating with the Woodward Tahoe indoor facility.

Terrain and Trails

Boreal boasts a layout that heavily caters to terrain park enthusiasts and beginners. The mountain is world-renowned for its progressive Woodward terrain parks, featuring everything from beginner boxes to massive pro-level jumps. Traditional skiers and riders will find great cruising on runs like Accelerator and Dutchman. The resort is also the only ski area in the Tahoe region to offer night skiing every night of the week until 8:00 PM, illuminating a significant portion of its runs.
