About Mammoth Mountain

Founded by Dave McCoy in 1953, Mammoth Mountain in California’s Sierra Nevada is a towering giant of the ski world. Boasting a staggering summit elevation of 11,053 feet—the highest lift-served terrain in California—Mammoth is legendary for its massive snowpack. This altitude frequently allows the resort to offer one of the longest ski seasons in North America, often stretching into July or even August.

Terrain and Trails

With over 3,500 skiable acres and a 3,100-foot vertical drop, Mammoth’s terrain is vast and highly diverse. It is serviced by an expansive network of 25 lifts. Beginners enjoy wide, gentle cruisers near the Main and Canyon Lodges, while experts flock to the high-alpine terrain off the Panorama Gondola to tackle the steep, wind-buffed chutes of Climax and the Cornice Bowl. Freestyle riders are also drawn to Mammoth’s world-class Unbound Terrain Parks.
