About Snowbasin

Located just outside Ogden, Utah, Snowbasin is one of the oldest continuously operating ski resorts in the United States, having opened in 1939. It gained international fame when it hosted the downhill, combined, and super-G events during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Today, it is equally renowned for its opulent day lodges—featuring chandeliers, massive stone fireplaces, and award-winning dining—as it is for its world-class, uncrowded slopes and towering alpine peaks.

Terrain and Trails

Snowbasin boasts a massive 3,000 skiable acres with a staggering 2,900-foot vertical drop, reaching a summit elevation of 9,250 feet. The mountain is serviced by 12 lifts, including the luxurious Needles Gondola, the Strawberry Gondola, and the Allen Peak Tram. The terrain is rated 7% beginner, 29% intermediate, and 64% advanced/expert. Advanced skiers can test their mettle on the exact Grizzly and Wildflower Olympic downhill courses, while intermediates can cruise endless wide-open groomers. The resort also receives an average of 300 inches of the famous Utah powder annually.
