About Stowe

Often referred to as the “Ski Capital of the East,” Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont is steeped in alpine history and classic New England charm. The resort operates across two distinct mountains: Mount Mansfield, which is the highest peak in Vermont at 4,395 feet, and the adjacent Spruce Peak. Stowe combines a luxurious, modern base village with historic, narrow, winding trails originally cut by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, offering a premier and uniquely Eastern ski experience.

Terrain and Trails

Stowe features 485 skiable acres and an impressive 2,360-foot vertical drop, serviced by 12 lifts including a high-speed gondola and an inter-mountain transfer gondola. The terrain is divided into 16% beginner, 55% intermediate, and 29% expert. Spruce Peak provides excellent, sun-drenched cruising for beginners and intermediates. Over on Mount Mansfield, experts will find the legendary “Front Four”—National, Liftline, Starr, and Goat. These notoriously steep, narrow, and often icy double-black diamond trails are considered a rite of passage for any serious East Coast skier.
