About Sugarloaf

Located in the rugged Carrabassett Valley of Maine, Sugarloaf is an East Coast giant. Opened in 1950, it is the largest ski area in Maine and stands as the only lift-serviced above-treeline skiing in the East. With its sprawling terrain and passionate local community, Sugarloaf is famous for its massive spring skiing festival, Reggae Fest, and its undeniably authentic mountain culture.

Terrain and Trails

Sugarloaf boasts an incredible 1,320 skiable acres with a massive 2,820-foot continuous vertical drop. The resort’s 162 trails and glades are accessed by 13 lifts. Advanced skiers flock to the legendary Snowfields for open-bowl skiing, or charge down the steep pitches of White Nitro. Meanwhile, intermediates can enjoy the meandering three-mile-long Tote Road, and thrill-seekers can explore the expansive, challenging tree runs in Bracket Basin.
