About Taos

Founded in 1955 by European pioneer Ernie Blake, Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico is a world-class destination deeply influenced by Swiss alpine culture and local Pueblo traditions. Famous for its ruggedly steep terrain and light, dry powder, Taos remained one of the last holdouts prohibiting snowboards until 2008. Today, it is the first ski resort in the world to become a certified B Corporation, leading the industry in environmental sustainability.

Terrain and Trails

Taos boasts an impressive 1,294 skiable acres with a plunging 3,274-foot vertical drop, reaching a summit elevation of 12,481 feet. Served by 14 lifts, the mountain is legendary for its expert terrain. Skiers can test their mettle on the iconic, mogul-choked Al’s Run right under the main chair, or hike to the breathtaking heights of Kachina Peak and Highline Ridge for extreme chutes and powder-filled bowls. Despite its extreme reputation, Taos also offers beautifully groomed cruisers for intermediate riders.

Live Webcams & Weather
