About Vail

Established in 1962 by Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton—veterans of the renowned 10th Mountain Division—Vail is a titan of North American skiing. Located in the Colorado Rockies, it features a massive 3,450-foot vertical drop and a charming Bavarian-inspired village that has become synonymous with luxury ski culture. Vail remains one of the most visited and iconic resorts in the world, setting the gold standard for mountain operations.

Terrain and Trails

With an astonishing 5,317 skiable acres and 33 lifts (including two gondolas), Vail’s terrain is legendary. The Front Side is packed with famous cruisers like Riva Ridge and steep bump runs such as Prima and Highline. However, Vail’s crown jewels are its legendary Back Bowls—seven expansive, ungroomed bowls like Sun Up and Sun Down—and the gladed, natural terrain of Blue Sky Basin, offering advanced riders an unparalleled powder experience.
